All About Vape Juices
Take a look at your vaping pen. Ever wondered about its insides? The insides are important—after all, they hold the vape juice that creates the flavorful “smoke” you crave. Vape juice goes by any number of names, but the ones you’ve probably heard most are vape liquid, e-juice, and e-liquid. They all mean the exact same thing. Just to give you an example of the brand names that exist on the market, an extremely popular type of vape juice is LIQUATM e-liquid.
Vape juices come in a variety of containers, including cartridges (sometimes refillable) which you insert directly into a vaping device. Sometimes they’re also in dark bottles, to protect the flavor inside. If you buy a box of flavors, it’s always best to keep it closed when not in use, to prevent deterioration.
The Insides of Vape Liquid
The ingredients in e-liquid start with water. After that, there are some standard components of vape liquid, such as vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. These two particular ingredients are key to providing a kind of texture and overall weight to vape juice, making vaping a pleasant experience. E-liquid often also contains nicotine, plus assorted food-grade flavorings to give you whatever taste it is you’re looking for in your vaping experience.
All About Vegetable Glycerin
While people vape for flavor, a lot of folks also want the smoke they produce to have a certain look. It’s likely you’re not vaping solely for the nicotine—unlike old-fashioned cigarettes, vape pens are all about style. You might be embarrassed by your old smoking habit, but people who vape often like to be seen, and the e-liquid is a big part of that. So when you’re considering a vape liquid, take into consideration what kind of smoke you want to produce.
The rule of thumb is: the higher the level of vegetable glycerin in an e-juice, the thicker the smoke clouds it will produce. Want to make your friends’ eyes go wide? Consider a high-powered vaping device to go with the high level of vegetable glycerin in your e-liquid of choice.
In case you’re wondering what exactly vegetable glycerin is, well, it’s more or less like what it sounds. It’s made of vegetable oil. When you mix it with propylene glycol, it gives e-liquids viscosity, texture, and weight.
What about Propylene Glycol?
The other major ingredient in a vape liquid is propylene glycol. It’s odorless and clear. Think of vegetable glycerin as the look and propylene glycol as the taste and feel. The higher the levels of propylene glycol, the more you’re going to feel the effects of the vapor. The strongest feel and taste comes from a balanced mixture of vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol.
And then there’s Nicotine
The third all-important ingredient in most e-liquids is nicotine. That said, some people swap to vaping specifically to leave nicotine behind, so nicotine-free vape liquids do exist.
To suit different customers’ preferences, the market has a wide variety of e-liquid nicotine levels. They range from around 0 to 12 mg. So whatever your particular need, there are high levels of nicotine, low levels, and moderate levels. A moderate level of nicotine comes in at around 3 mg. Slightly higher, such as 6 mg, tends to suit most people’s needs.
High levels of nicotine can be really harsh, so one option when you’re considering a flavor is a nicotine salt e-liquid. The flavoring in this is extracted from the salts which are within a tobacco plant’s stem, rather than from the nicotine in the plant’s leaves. This still gives you the tobacco punch you’re looking for, but is not nearly as harsh.
Picking the Flavor that Best Suits You
Now that you understand what goes into e-juice, here’s how to pick the right flavor.
All you have to do is browse very briefly either on a store or online and you’ll see that there are countless vape liquid flavors available. No matter what you’re looking for, it’s a near guarantee that it exists. But you could get overwhelmed or confused by the huge variety. So let’s break it down into a few of the basics:
- Fruit flavors – We’re talking apple, berry, orange, cantaloupe, coconut, you name it. If fruity is your thing, look for something like “fruit flavored” on the label.
- Dessert flavors – Lemon pie, cinnamon roll, custard … if you like all things dessert, vaping has you covered in that respect.
- Candy flavors – Bubble gum, Swedish fish, sour worms. Whatever your preference in the candy aisle, it can probably also be found in the vaping section of a store.
- Tobacco flavor – Maybe you prefer your vaping to be more like you remember cigarette smoking. You left that bad habit behind, but you miss the richly textured, fragrant smoke. Then a tobacco flavor is for you. LIQUATM e-liquid, for example, has Turkish tobacco flavor, Cuban cigar, sweet tobacco, etc., etc.
- Beverage flavors – Milkshake? Yes. You can find that flavor of e-juice. Iced tea? Also yes. Soda, slushie, almond milk, grape juice—these flavors are all on the market, plus more.
- Hemp flavor – Yes, it’s a thing. And it’s becoming easier and easier to find.
The bottom line is that you have a general category your vaping tastes fall into, it should be easy to find an e-liquid flavor to suit your preference.
What if you don’t really know what flavor you want or don’t even care? That’s all good. E-liquids are also sold in packs of multiple flavors so you can pick and choose.
LIQUATM e-liquid is available in multiple varieties. Just look for a LIQUA Store online or near you.
Other big brands in the vaping business include High Caliber E-liquid ,Cuttwood Vapors, Candy King, and Black Note.
