So, now you have received your box mod and the next thing you are in the search of is the perfect vape tank to fill with your choice of e-liquid. Tanks are the most important part of your vaping device which holds vaping juice in a reservoir and also includes a coil that lights up and creates the vapor. Vape tanks are generally designed using Pyrex or glass and metal like anodized aluminum and stainless steel.
All vape tanks are not created to be equal. Though they may have similarities, they also have differences including the kind of vaping experience they offer, and their level of power and so on. However, most of these tanks are composed of similar parts and we shall learn about them right away.
Different Parts of a Vape Tank
Outer Tube
An outer tube is usually created using Pyrex glass and it holds the liquid between the bottom and top caps and makes it possible for the vaper to keep track of its level and never let it go too low. Since it is designed of glass you can easily see through it.
Center Tube
In those tanks that are taller than the coil’s height, a center tube serves as an extension and it is through it that vapor flows and liquid is prevented from entering your mouthpiece.
Top/Base Caps
You will find these metal pieces present at either end of your outer glass tube, and they help screw your mod together. There will be a sliding ring present on the bottom or top cap which helps cover or expose airflow holes. This helps the vaper decide how tight or loose they want their inhaler to be. The base cap is threaded in a 510 thread pattern (almost always) and there is a contact pin present in the middle of the threads that help conduct electricity from the source of power, which is then conveyed to the coil. The top cap generally comes with a piece that swings sideways or pops off to make it easy to refill e-liquid when needed.
Drip Tip
The removable mouthpiece via which you draw vapor is known as the drip tip. You can remove these, and certain devices that have a 510 standard style, also allows you to replace it with others.
O-rings
These are rubber washers with the help of which the bottom, as well as the top caps, is sealed to the tank’s outer tube, and the drip tip is secured to the tank’s top cap.
Coil
What you know as the coil is actually made of several parts.
Coil – a wire, wound in a coil shape, with the help of which negative and positive coils are connected, and get their electrical charge. Two, three, or as many as 12 coils can be found packed in a single modern tank coil unit.
Wicking – though it can be made of different materials, organic cotton has been the most preferred one as far as wicking is concerned. It is porous and absorbent and it is through it that liquid is drawn from the tank and reaches the coils, where it gets heated and turns into vapor.
Atomizer – it has negative and positive poles. When it is electrified, heat is generated in the connecting wire by the opposing poles and this converts the liquid into vapor.
Housing – each of these parts is enclosed in a small metal housing that is secured into the base cap of the tank, and usually, a center tube is threaded right on the top. Juice ports or holes are present in the sides because of which the wicking material is exposed to the liquid present inside the tank.
How Do You Use a Tank?
The present-day vape tanks have been created to be completely user-friendly. Tanks from popular manufacturers will arrive sealed in proper packaging, nicely assembled, and ready to use.
When you get your best vape tank first, it will be best to take the parts apart. Be very careful when you do this, properly observing the exact pattern in which the different parts are assembled. Apart from the coil head wash everything using a mild detergent and warm water. Once it is completely dry, reassemble it.
Before installing the coil, dab just a few drops of the vape juice liquid into the juice ports and the wicking material (if it is exposed at the top of the tank’s coil). Just one or two drops will be enough and if you add too much you will be gurgling until the liquid present within the coil gets vaporized.
Next, fill up your tank and wait for about 10 minutes so that the liquid is absorbed by the coils and then you can enjoy vaping.
Different Types of Tanks
Since the needs of the vapers are different the manufacturers produce different types of tanks to meets these demands.
Certain tanks are created to meet the needs of those who are interested in MTL (mouth-to-lung) vaping. This gives you an experience quite similar to that you enjoy while smoking a cigarette – you pull vapor or smoke into your mouth and then exhale. Some are for those who are interested in direct-lung vaping and offers a looser airflow.
Other types of tanks are also available. Some will be liked by the “flavor chasers” as they offer great e-liquid blends and amazing taste, others are created for “cloud chaser” and creates the densest and biggest vapor clouds.
To Conclude
Vaping, before it became popular was only a hobby of a few. However, now it is becoming more and more common, particularly with those who want to give up smoking and are looking for a healthier alternative.
Just as the demand for vape mod is increasing, the manufacturers too are producing more and more different types of vape tanks. The tanks that you get today have features like wood-pulp or top-fill wicking that nobody knew about a few years ago. It will not be surprising, if tomorrow you get to hear about new features that ensure leak prevention, improves coil technology, enhance flavors, and makes usage even easier.
One thing is for sure the vaping industry is going to keep growing and with it will grow the many interesting features that users will get to enjoy.
