Beginners Guide to E-juice

What Liquid should I start with?
The liquid you should start with depends on a few factors including, how much you smoked previously? How quickly you want to quit? Or do you even want to quit? What type of cigarettes you smoked (light, menthol, rolling tobacco etc). What you are looking for from smoking an e-cigarette (i.e do you want lots of smoke or a strong throat hit).

Nicotine Strength
Liquids come in different strengths, usually 0mg-32mg. Someone who smoked 20 a day should start on at least 12mg, but it is recommended that they start on 24mg. You are much more likely to succeed at quitting if you start at a sensible nicotine does. Starting too low or reducing too fast can increase your cravings and increase the chances of you reaching for a cigarette. On the other hand, if you only smoked 5-10 a day then starting on around 12mg and working down is probably a good option, you don’t want to start to high and end up having more nicotine than you were getting from cigarettes.

Flavour
It is advisable that you chose a tobacco flavoured liquid to begin with so that the vaping / e-cigarette is as close to the real thing as possible. There are liquids available made to mimic the flavours of different tobacco brands so it’s worth shopping around for one that tastes right to you.
Once you are settled with your vape and are using it comfortably then you can experiment with different flavours, and there are literally 1000s of flavours to choose from so if you don’t like the first ones you try, keep trying your bound to find some you love.

PG vs VG content
Now this is a little trickier to give advice on as it all comes down to personal preference but each e-liquid comes in different ratios of PG and VG. Normally they are 50:50 but you can now get many different variations so it’s worth trying to find which you prefer.

High PG – The higher the PG the stronger the throat hit will be when Vaping, this is a stronger resemblance to smoking. The flavour of PG is slightly more pleasant than VG as well so it shouldn’t interfere with the flavouring as much. You will not get a large amount of vape cloud with High PG so this can be good for people who are also trying to be discreet.

High VG – The higher the VG the smoother the vape will be and the more vape will be produced. The art of creating huge amounts of vapour has been names ‘cloud chasing’ and there are competitions to see who can create the biggest clouds of vapour. The only way to achieve this is with a high VG liquid.

50:50 – As I mentioned the standard mix is 50:50 which will give you a slight throat hit but a decent amount of vape. It is a good idea to try this mix first and then decide what you want more or less of and go from there.
