Bong vs Dab Rig – What’s the Difference?

Bong Vs. Dab Rig – The Smoking Experience

Bongs are suitable for smoking your favourite dry herbs. They offer a thicker and more direct hit compared to smoking a joint. You’ll breathe in the “rip” deep into your lungs, enhancing the effect of the beneficial herbs while giving you a huge cloud when exhaling.

The dab rig is suitable for vaporizing your favourite legal concentrates. You add your wax, shatter, or whatever extract you have to the nail or banger after heating to temperature using a blowtorch.

You drop the concentrate on the nail and use a carb cap to adjust the airflow while ripping on the rig like a regular bong. The rig also produces huge plumes of vapour on exhaling, with an even more dramatic and potent effect.

Bowls Vs. Nails

The bowl on a bong is usually glass and removable. There are some nails available in glass, but most come in titanium or quartz.

The difference between the banger/nail and the bowl is that you heat the nail, not the material, whereas you heat the material, not the bowl.

Nails and bangers also require the use of a blowtorch to reach operating temperature, whereas you can rip a bowl using a regular BIC lighter.

Percolators

Percs are great for bongs. From triple-stacked honeycomb percolators to diffused down stems, increasing filtration on a bong adds up to a smoother smoke, enhancing the flavour while reducing the temperature for an easy rip that won’t leave you choking.

On the other hand, adding percs to dab rigs actually takes away from the flavour and effect of the vapour. It’s best to go with conventional rigs with no percolator features.
