CBD is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in parts of the marijuana plant, however, unlike the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) also found in the cannabis plant, it doesn’t cause a ‘high’ sensation. CBD can be found in three types; full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and isolate.

Full-spectrum CBD contains all parts and chemical compounds of a cannabis or hemp plant and may contain a very small amount of THC. Broad-spectrum versions on the hand are made with all the cannabinoid compounds of a plant except THC, which is removed completely. CBD isolate consists of pure CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes are removed.

People consume CBD for a number of reasons, such as:

CBD is considered safe as a natural remedy for several maladies, however, before taking CBD it is advised to consult with a doctor if you are already taking medication.

The number of people acknowledging the health benefits of CBD is growing, so it makes sense that there are now multiple ways to consume CBD, which this article details.

Tinctures

Tinctures come in small glass bottles with a pipette and are used to take CBD oil sublingually by placing a few drops under the tongue, holding it in the mouth for 30 seconds, and then swallowing it. Tinctures quickly became one of the most popular ways to take CBD as people started to understand the benefits of using CBD oil and using it daily to relieve the symptoms of some common ailments such as aches and pains. Taking CBD sublingually using a tincture provides people with a convenient, fast, and discreet method for taking CBD at any time of the day.

Using a tincture, the dosage can easily be controlled and managed, in addition to producing longer-lasting effects. However, one downside of taking CBD using a tincture is the earthy taste, which some people may not be able to tolerate.

Edibles

For people who do not like the taste of CBD oil when ingesting it using a tincture, there is the option of adding CBD oil to your food or getting edibles that mask the strong taste of CBD oil.

CBD edibles are growing in popularity and there are many delicious options including baked goods, candies, chocolates, cakes, gummies, lollipops, and pastries.

It is important to manage your dosage of CBD when consuming edibles, as it may take a few hours before the effects can be felt. Typically, CBD edible packaging will indicate the amount of CBD and other ingredients.

Beverages

Drinks containing CBD provide people with a supplement they can take whilst on the move, rather than awkwardly using a tincture in public. CBD beverages come in various flavors and are ideal for people with busy lifestyles who need a convenient and fast-acting solution. Some examples of CBD-infused beverages are beer, coffee, flavored water, juice, kombucha, lemonade, tonic, soda, tea, and wine.

Capsules

CBD capsules are a useful way to consume cannabinoids for people who want to carefully manage their dosage. CBD capsules encase exact doses of powdered or liquid CBD inside digestible casings and come in many different formulas designed to offer relief for various problems.

Topicals

CBD products such as balms, creams, oils, and ointments can be applied topically to relieve aches, migraines, skin conditions, and sore muscles. CBD topicals are very easy to use, however, to achieve a higher dosage quite a lot of products will need to be applied.

Inhalation

People who enjoy the sensation of smoking, but wish to avoid the negative health effects, may choose to inhale CBD using a vaporizer pen. Vaping can help people to quit smoking cigarettes or marijuana, as it can deliver high concentrations of CBD quickly to help reduce anxiety and stress. Dosage can be controlled by selecting the CBD oil with the desired strength.

Vaping is much safer than smoking which causes great harm to the throat and lungs, however, there are still some health concerns surrounding vaping, so it is worth carefully researching a CBD vape to ensure it has been safety certified.
