How Long Does E-liquid Last?

When it comes to the lifespan of e-liquid, there is a lot up for debate. After all, many turn to vaping to either save money or improve their health – usually it’s a bit of both – but if your e-liquid is unlikely to last longer than a couple of days or weeks, is it really worth it?

Whether you’re talking shelf life or the rate at which you can be expected to burn through a bottle of vape juice, we’re here to shed a little light on the matter. So, let’s jump straight in.

Does e-liquid have a use-by date?

Yep – but that’s not unusual. Every consumable product has a recommended shelf life but, like a loaf of bread or bottle of milk, these dates are a guide. After all, you wouldn’t throw a full loaf away just because the date recommended it was past its best if you could see that it was still fresh.

It works much the same for e-liquid. Of course, the longer you have it sitting there, the less flavourful and potent it will be over time. However, there isn’t enough research to suggest that consuming “old” e-liquid can cause harm. But the truth is that you probably won’t like it very much!

Amongst the vaping community, it’s widely considered that anywhere between 1 and 2 years is an acceptable amount of time to consume your e-liquid. Anything after that and you many want to consider binning it, but it’s completely down to personal taste and how much you care about the quality.

Signs that your e-liquid may be ready for replacing

It may be obvious when your e-liquid is no longer fit for use, but that’s not always the case and if you’re new to vaping you may have little to compare to. So, how do you know that your e-liquid has gone “off”? Here are a few of the biggest tell-tale signs:

The flavour intensity has dramatically reduced
The e-liquid has changed colour
The smell of the e-liquid isn’t as potent
The e-liquid bottle has become stained
The nicotine may fade

If you notice any of these issues, then the chances are it’s time to change your e-liquid!

How long can I expect my e-liquid to last?

Unfortunately, this question is much harder to answer. No two vapers are the same and the length of time a bottle of e-liquid can be expected to last will depend on a number of factors. The size of your E Cig Juice, how often you vape and even the sort of e-liquid and vape kit you use can impact how long it will last, and there is no one size fits all answer to this!

If you are a regular vaper, there are ways you can get the most out of your money by buying larger bottles of e-liquid. On the other hand, if you use your vape sparingly, perhaps reserving it strictly for social situations, you may only need a small bottle to last you several weeks or months.

Finding the right balance for you and your preferences is the key, and it can take some time and a lot of trial and error before you find your perfect e-liquid quantity. But a great e-liquid provider can make all the difference, helping you stay stocked up with fresh e-liquids for when yours is ready for an upgrade!
