What is a Volcano Vaporizer?

A volcano vaporizer is typically a desktop vaporizer that is amongst the most favorite vaping devices today. The vaping device comes with a sturdy and unique design, with easy controls that let you enjoy similar results of combustion, without the harmful effects. It allows you to heat the plant matter and benefit from the cannabinoids and terpenes, as well. It can gently heat the essential oil, herb, or even spice and produce a vapor that goes into the valve balloon for you to inhale.

How to clean it?

When it comes to cleaning the volcano vaporizer, it is an elaborate yet easy task. You can follow a few easy steps to master the art of cleaning your vaporizer:

  1. Disassembling the device: The process of dismantling the volcano vaporizer starts by taking off the heating element cover. It is a black plastic piece that you can rotate clockwise for it to come out. But, if it doesn’t, you can heat it a little instead of using force. Moving on, you will need a screwdriver to remove the stainless steel shell. Once you have taken it out, keep it aside, and then remove the metal star disc and ventilation grate with a plier to keep yourself safe. You will be able to see the heating element wrapped around in insulation.
  2. Clean the heating element: You can start the cleaning process from the heating element or what you may know as the hot air outlet. Before you begin with it, if you heated the vaporizer to get off the heating element cover, it is best to wait for 30-40 minutes so that it cools down. If your volcano vaporizer is efficient, it might stay hot for even longer. The top area of a heating element might have some build-up. You can start cleaning it off with a cotton swab, and if all you have is some minimal residue, it will come off along with the cotton. But, if it doesn’t come off from the element, you can soak a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and use it to clean the solidified residue. You might even have to scrub it off a little to clean it properly.
  3. Washing the parts: Next up, you can clean the ventilation grate and star disc. The easiest way to remove the residue from them is soaking them. You can take a big jar and add isopropyl alcohol to it, and then put the parts into it for at least 30 minutes. If there is some build-up that you feel will not come off by just soaking, you can gently use a toothbrush to remove it. Once they are all clean, run the parts under warm water and place them on a towel until they are completely dry.

Pro tip: While soaking the parts can clean them like magic, it might damage them as well. If the parts of your volcano vaporizer are of rubber or plastic, it is best not to leave them for long in isopropyl alcohol to avoid damaging them. Instead of leaving them in the alcohol for minutes, you can either soak them in detergent or soapy water or just quickly rinse it with cotton dipped in isopropyl.

  1. Internal parts of the unit: The inner parts of the volcano vaporizer are the easiest to clean. You can take the help of a keyboard vacuum cleaner or use a can of compressed air to blow away any dirt or residue from it. When it comes to the stainless steel shell, all you need is a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to take off any residual build-up around it.

  1. Disposable valves: If you are using the usual disposable valves regularly, they can last for two weeks. Or if you feel that it is time to replace it, you can take it out along with the bag and throw it away. But, if you use the easy valves with an adapter, you can take off the bag from the black ring and dispose of it. Now clean the plastic pieces by soaking them in soapy water. Once they are dry, take another volcano bag and secure it by strips of plastic.

  1. Reassembling the device: While assembling the volcano, ensure that all the parts are dry. Start by putting star disc on the heating element, and then the grate and heating cover. After that, you can connect the wire to the bolt and put the stainless steel shell over it. Lastly, put the screws back and clean the outside with a cotton swab. Your volcano vaporizer is clean and ready for use.

Final Thoughts

Volcano vaporizers have been around for a long time and made it to the house of everyone who has a knack for vaping. If you have one, cleaning it regularly becomes essential to enjoy the flavor and potency. While you can clean it as and when you feel like, there are a few signs that might tell you when it’s time for a thorough cleaning. For instance, when a fresh vaping bag doesn’t taste the same or you get a herbal smell even while the device is off, know that it is time to give it a good clean. If cleaning it doesn’t change the taste or smell, it is time to invest in a new device. You can lay your hands on the best devices from Vaporizer Chief.
