How to Consume CBD: Edibles, Oils, Topicals and More

If we talk about the U.S CBD market, its value was approx $4 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach $25 billion by 2025.

The numbers are whopping high!

This is because a wide range of people take CBD or cannabidiol as a magical herb to get relief from an assortment of medical conditions. These include chronic pain, anxiety disorders, fibromyalgia, migraine, neurological disorders, epilepsy and even cancer.

Although different forms of CBD are available today, many are still unaware of these forms and wonder how to consume them.

So, here is an overview of four methods on how one can enjoy the benefits of CBD.

Edibles

Nearly 30% of adults who are cannabis users have taken CBD in edible form. Marijuana users claim edibles to be the most convenient form to take CBD. It’s because they taste delicious and can be carried anywhere easily.

Gummies, chocolates, cookies, truffles, and mints are popular edible products. One can get these products easily at a trusted origins dispensary.

Research suggests that eating CBD is subjected to the ‘first pass effect’. This means CBD is partially broken down by the liver and the digestive tract, which is why it takes around 2 hours to feel the effects of edibles.

That being said, they induce the most potent effects.

Smoking & Vaping

Smoking is the most popular and traditional way to try CBD, while vaping has emerged as an alternative to smoking. The younger population is more into vaping.

You can smoke a CBD flower in a joint or use a vaporizer with a pre-filled cartridge with your preferred oil.

You can also inhale any CBD concentrate like sugar wax with a vape pen. Smoking and vaping allow the product to go directly into your bloodstream, which makes you feel the effects quicker.

Sublingual Products

Sublingual products are considered a healthier alternative to other forms as they do not contain sugar or additives like edibles. But they do taste nasty.

Different types of CBD oils are available, which are supposed to be taken sublingually. You place a few drops of the oil under your tongue, hold it for a few seconds and then swallow it.

Sublingual absorption is pretty quick as compared to other methods, and you feel the effects faster.

Topicals

Topicals are relatively a new form of CBD where you apply the products directly to the skin. One can find CBD-infused creams, balms, lotions, and transdermal patches easily in the market.

Topicals are a great choice if you need to treat localized pain or certain skin conditions, such as eczema. They are not subjected to the ‘first-pass effect’, hence providing relief to a concentrated area.

Wrap Up

With so many methods available to take CBD, users might find it hard to know what’s best for them.

Well, the key is to try out different products and see what works best for your body. And make sure to go slow and low when it comes to dosage.
