How to get the most out of your vaping experience by choosing the right temperature for your e-juice

The beauty of vaping is that you can customize your experience the way you want it. You can choose between many types of e-cigs like mods, pods or pens and on top of that you are free to choose almost any given flavour. You can even decide to mix your own e-juice. However, whether you are looking for a smoking feel or doing some cloud chasing, vaping can satisfy you in both cases.

But did you know that customizing the temperature of the device also gives you different experiences?

First, let’s see how temperature works in an e-cig. Heat is added to the device via wattage, which is the measure of power a device uses; this heat is supplied to the coils. A higher wattage setting will increase the temperature, which will vaporize the e-liquid in the vaping device faster. So, by changing the temperature, the e-juice is turned into breathable vapour at different speeds. This alters your experience by providing different tastes.

You can find many types of vaping tools on the market, but all of them require a temperature control device, TC for short. With this, you can set a specific temperature, or you can select a range. This way, the device only sends the necessary amount of power to the coil to reach the desired temperature. This is great for providing consistency, as you will get the same taste and feel each time. This method is also cost efficient, because it saves you money on batteries and e-juice.

Not all mods and devices can utilise temperature control, as only a specific type of coil wire can do that. To find the suitable device, always look for the TC labelling.

Coil wires which can do TC are nickel wire (Ni or Ni200), stainless steel (SS, SS316L, SS317L, SS304, SS430) and Titanium (Ti).

Regarding e-juice, the best liquids to use are VG e-liquids; atomizers used for TC are less than 1.0 ohms and the juices used for these atomizers differ from ones used for standard vaping. The best VG/PG ratio is 80VG and 20PG.

Temperature ranges

In terms of temperature, the standard range is between 100-255 degrees Celsius, with the 100-150 span counting as a lower, which can be unsatisfactory. Vaporizing at such a low level can result in a weak, tasteless mist.

The recommended scope for temperature is around 199 Celsius. Through trial and error within this reach, you can decide what suits you best. The sweet spot is usually somewhere between 199-215 Celsius, which allows for a great amount of flavour without feeling the heat of the vapour.

To add more flavour or heat, you should aim for a temperature of 215-255 Celsius. But be careful, because most people who go above 246 Celsius experience too much concentrated flavour and an uncomfortable heat level.

So, if you’re a vaping beginner, aim for 199-215 Celsius, see how that feels and if you want to experiment a little, go higher.
