Kanger Kbox Review: A Surprising Newcommer From Kangertech

When it comes to clearomizers, KangerTech has already been one of the most trusted and well-known Chinese companies in the electronic cigarette market. Now, however, it has decided to surprise us with its first box mod, which, safe to say, looks very promising: the Kanger KBox.

Although a great number of electronic cigarette manufacturers in the recent months are coming out with very – and sometimes even unnecessarily – powerful box mods, Kanger has approached the market with a quite different device, which is sufficiently powerful and also practical for beginners.

Looks & Design

The design of Kanger Kbox speaks ergonomics. Both for the ultimate comfort and the 18650 battery, one side of the device is rounded, but the other has a sleek and slim profile. The casing is built of aluminum, which makes the device light but durable – together with the battery it weighs no more than your smartphone and fits very nice in your hand.

The device doesn’t have an LED display – it uses an LED light scale to illuminate the current wattage setting instead. It can be a bit of turnoff for those who prefer to read the resistance and other settings on a screen, but it sure does make things more straightforward for not-so-experienced mod users.

Functionality & Performance

The very first thing that is definitely worth mentioning feature-wise is the previously unseen and unique wattage setting system. It consists of a LED illuminated scale with 7 predefined wattage increments: 8W, 13W, 20W, 25W, 30W, 35W, 40W. Yes, these settings are a bit limited, but they do include all of the most commonly used wattages and go very well with KangerTech tanks.

The Kanger Kbox also features short circuit protection, low voltage protection, low resistance protection, wrong battery polarity protection, 10 second cutoff function and a heat dissipation vent, and all this is definitely plenty for a box mod in the lower price range.

The Kanger Kbox uses an 18650 type battery. It is very easy to install – one only needs to unscrew the cap at the bottom of the device and insert the battery. The mod allows you to vape safely on even 0.4 ohm coils, which makes it suitable for a wide range of low resistance tanks and rebuildables.

Final thoughts

Lightweight but durable – this is how KangerTech themselves promote their new and absolutely stunning product. We would like to add that the Kanger Kbox is also elegant and, thanks to the unique wattage setting system, straightforward to use, which makes it a perfect device for those who are stepping their vape game up from eGo style batteries. As mentioned earlier, this is Kanger’s first try in the scene of box mods, and, taking that into account, we conclude that the result is close to outstanding.
