Interesting Facts About The Different Methods of Testing Marijuana Users
Marijuana is rapidly growing in popularity throughout the world. It is no surprise that it is legalized in some US states for medical and recreational purposes. With that said, what if you are a marijuana user who needs to pass a drug test possibly for a job opportunity? There are different ways of testing marijuana users that you should know about to be sufficiently prepared. These are;
- Blood test
- Saliva test
- Urine test
- Hair follicle test
1. Blood test
Blood is rarely used in the testing of marijuana due to its invasive nature. It is also not as effective as the other method since marijuana can be detected in the blood for only 2-24 hours once you consume it. For heavy users, it can be detected for up to 7 days.
The main advantage of blood tests is that they are able to detect both the parent drug (THC) which is found in cannabis and drug metabolites (THC-COOH) which are formed by the body when it metabolizes the cannabis. It is also possible to test for the drug immediately after you consume marijuana which makes it effective for DUI tests.
2. Saliva test
The saliva test is an alternative method used for marijuana testing. It is used to test for the parent drug (THC) and is effective for cannabis smokers. It is however only effective for up to 72 hours after consumption of marijuana. As with blood tests, the upside is that it can be used to test a marijuana user immediately after consumption.
Fortunately, saliva is rarely used to test for DUI (Driving under influence) and as such even if you fail a saliva test, it cannot be used as evidence against you.
3. Urine test
Urine testing is commonly used in marijuana testing. It can only detect marijuana metabolites such as THC-COOH which is evidence of recent cannabis consumption. Unlike blood and saliva tests, urine tests cannot detect marijuana in the body immediately after use.
Unfortunately, after about 2-8 hours of consumption, the marijuana can be detected in the urine for 2-5 days. For frequent users, this can go up to 15 days and for chronic users, urine tests are effective for up to 30 days. The upside is that with zinc supplements, it is possible to mask the presence of marijuana metabolites in the urine and possibly pass a urine test.
4. Hair follicle test
This is believed to be the most effective way of testing marijuana in the body. Just like urine tests, hair follicle tests detect the presence of metabolites in the body. It takes about 5 to 7 days after consuming marijuana for it to be detectable through the hair.
After that, it is possible to test for marijuana in the hair follicles for up to 90 to 110 days. The hair closest to the scalp is best used because it contains the highest concentration of the metabolites. The hair on the body can contain the metabolites for longer since they take longer to grow.
However, you can learn how to beat a hair drug test without fail. Methods such as shaving your hair are not completely effective. The best method is to use Aloe Rid Detox shampoo to wash the hair. The shampoo has properties that break down the metabolites in the hair follicles making them much harder to detect.
Despite these smart ways to detect marijuana use, it is possible to outsmart the system and pass a marijuana test. Either way, the most effective cheat it to enjoy cannabis responsibly.
