Too Much Kratom Dosage? What You Need to Know

There have been many online discussions recently, specifically those debating one little plant’s potential health benefits. And, surprise, surprise, this time, it isn’t about marijuana or CBD. No, this time, we have a far more exotic plant caught in the public eye, and its name is Kratom.

So what is this mysterious new addition to the roster of plants that people and governments are disputing over? Where does it come from, is it dangerous, and where can you get it? These are all valid questions, and we will provide some suitable answers for all of them, but you can start if you check Kratom here.

What Is Kratom?

From deep within the rainforests of Southeast Asia comes word of a local plant that the people have been using for centuries as a sort of herbal supplement. To be more specific, Kratom is a tree that grows in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and many other countries in this particular region.

It has indeed been used by the people of these countries as a stimulant for who knows how long. Its main purpose when we first learned about it was helping the farmers get through long days in the field.

We’ll get to how it helped them in a moment, but for now, you should know that this plant has made its way pretty far west, all the way to the US of A. Various Kratom products, predominantly Kratom powder, have found themselves available for online purchase.

While the FDA wants nothing to do with them, the good people do and have been singing its praises online. So is it as harmless as the reviews claim or as dangerous as the little research we have does? We’ll need to look into it a bit more to answer that one.

How Does It Work?

The main component of Kratom is an alkaloid called Mitragynine, which is supposed to interact with your brain to provide a mild sense of alertness or jitteriness if consumed in low doses. However, if you push past a certain limit, it does take a turn in the other direction and lead you to be moderately sedated.

Now that first part sounds okay, right, nothing a legal substance couldn’t perform, even if it poisons your body. On the other hand, sedatives aren’t a thing anyone should be playing around with, as they can lead to much more severe consequences.

But, if we’re relying on user reviews only, the people who have been using Kratom say that it’s helped them with various conditions, such as chronic pain, anxiety, and even helped them get off other substances.

Can You Really Overdose on It?

Absolutely yes. No questions about it. Anything that has sedative properties can be abused to the measure where it will bring harm to you. However, overdosing on Kratom isn’t that common, as people mostly take it for the other properties, those of the stimulative nature.

As we already cleared, those stimulative effects only occur if you take small amounts of Kratom, meaning the users usually try to steer clear of larger doses.

Since there isn’t enough research to say the exact amounts of Kratom that will get you the desired effect, we refer to the doses as loose terms of a little and a lot.

However, it is common knowledge among the various users of bulk Kratom out there that a recommended dose among them is around 1-5 grams, depending on their weight and the method of consumption.

To overdose, you would have to go above and beyond that and ingest copious amounts of Kratom, which is not a necessarily pleasant experience, as Kratom isn’t known for its exquisite flavor.

There have been cases of people who did this and suffered severe medical issues due to it, so you should absolutely be careful if you plan to embark on this journey.

In Conclusion

There you have it! We have presented both sides of the coin that is Kratom. What you need to do now is to decide which side you are on, or at least begin to form your opinion.

To develop a full opinion, you should definitely learn more about the potentially good sides of Kratom and its various strains that are available. There are also a few different methods of consumption that supposedly alter the effects in a minor way.

In any case, the point is, you should absolutely do your research first and determine that Kratom is something you consider to be a good solution for you. Once you do that, it’s just the matter of finding the right strain for you and trying it out for yourself. Who knows, it might actually live up to the online hype.
