Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Review
The latest pod system by Vaporesso has been labeled Vaporesso Luxe PM40. Previously, the company was renowned for other mods such as the Gen S and Luxe. Aligning with the trend today, the Luxe PM40 is a pod-based AIO that comes in a small package. It has been created for MTL as well as low-wattage DL vaping. It is reported that the battery is 1800 mAh and its juice capacity is 4 mL. You can refill the pods, while the coils act as a distinct entity to minimize waste and costs.
If you want to learn more about the performance of the Luxe PM40 kit and its standing among its competitors, keep reading.
Build quality and design
The Luxe PM40 can fit in a pocket, as its dimensions are 96.5 mm x 30.6 mm x 21.5 mm. While it is a solid system, it does not feel very heavy. It is bigger than the Caliburn or the JUUL, while it is not as big as a few latest fancy models such as the Voopoo Vinci, which is a 40-watt adjustable pod system. Moreover, its design has been largely derived from the SMOK Nord series, particularly the Nord 2. In fact, their forms are very similar.
It comes in five colors- Jade, black, carbon fiber, silver, and Lava. The frames for all of them are gunmetal and they come with colored IML panels that resemble stabilized wood. Interestingly, the black and silver ones have some element of rainbow incorporated in them.
The device also has a 0.69-inch rectangular black and white OLED screen which has the perfect amount of brightness and which is very easy to read. The other side comes with a silver rod that protrudes out a little. This can be moved back and forth to tune the airflow. The adjustment can be made from a solid MTL to a restricted DL vape. While the adjustment is not substantial, it is still versatile. Overall, the pod system looks good and there are several color options as well as useful features.
Getting started
It is easy to use Luxe PM40. One button practically does everything. It does not come with adjustment buttons, which was inconvenient initially. But I got used to it very soon.
If you click the button five times, the device is turned on and off. Moreover, this auto locks to function as an adjustment button. If you wish to adjust the power, just click on it three times. Then, either tap or hold to scroll through the wattage, till it reaches the desired levels.
Performance
For any pod device, the most important part is the coils. If a device does not have good coils, other good features are pretty pointless. A 0.8-ohm mesh coil rated 12-20 watts and a 0.6-ohm mesh coil rated 20-30 watts. Overall, eight coil options can fit in this pod, which includes an RBA deck. However, all of them are not compatible with it.
Over time, I have used many of these coils and hence, I was acquainted with them. Typically, low-wattage Vaporesso coils work well. I began with the 0.8-ohm coil for this kit and used 50/50 20 mg nic salt juices. For that wattage, the flavor was great. I believe that at about 12 watts, the coil works the best. Before the coil died, I ended up going through 20 mL of that juice, which is amazing for low-wattage vaping.
Battery life and charging
On the Luxe PM40, the battery life relies on the coils that are in use as well as the wattage that you fire them at. I thought that the device works well for something that is small. The charge rate of the internal battery is listed at 2 amps.
You can simply charge it as your mobile phone. Just plug and play.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Solid build quality
- Lightweight and durable
- Nice IML panels
- Five color options
- Nice bright screen
- Easy to use and fill
- Good capacity (4 mL)
- Clear pods to easily see the juice level
- Adjustable airflow
- Two coil options and a spare pod included
- Good flavor and life from both coils
- Easy to replace coils
- Three other coil options usable in this kit (plus an RBA deck)
- Full battery meter with the percentage
- Good battery life
- Charges fast (60 minutes)
- Supports passthrough vaping
Cons:
- Overstated battery capacity at 1800 mAh (should be 1300-1400 mAh)
- Overstated charge rate at 2 amps (should be 1.5 amps)
Summary
Holistically, the new Vaporesso pod system is great and I practically have zero complaints with the product. The only issue I faced is the overstated battery size and the charge rate. However, the actual specs are still great and if you are looking for a new pod system, I would recommend this.
